This is a design i did for a new folk/blues artist called Eva Abraham. The brief was to utilize aspects of her heritage ( i think it was Polish…bad memory) and add some hand drawn elements to give it a modern feel while also keeping the feel of a 60′s/70′s folk rock record…tall order? It was a great challenge and a very enjoyable project and she was extremely happy so i was happy, so i guess success all round!!! I always approach a project, especially one such as this that allows for some creativity, from the point of view of how the design or artwork ends up, from how the product or idea makes me feel, i always start there.
For Eva Abraham, this album signalled a new beginning in her life after having battled a serious illness recently and wanting to illustrate, through her music and this album, the stories, hopes, dreams, adventures and the happiness and sadness that she had experienced in the time leading up to the writing of this album, so my artwork had to sit beside that and even echo those sentiments if possible. I hope I did her proud.
