Oscillate – Motion Graphics by Daniel Sierra

Lovely motion graphics piece from Daniel Sierra using Houdini for the animation. Houdini is something i’ve not come across before…this video is similar to something StudioDen75 did with a music video for ‘The Shadow Orchestra’, who are now ‘Talk in Colour’ using Trapcode Particular, SoundKeys and Trapcode Form though Daniel’s looks a hell of a lot better. Oscillate is a lovely piece of motio graphics and i really like this kind of music & sound driven, organi, design…you can only control this stuff to a point and then you have to give it over to the sound or music you’re using, which makes for a really interesting and truly collaborative piece of work though from what i read Daniel created the music as well. Aren’t you a bright boy Daniel.Git.

The Defector – An interactive animation by Psyop

This is the project that won Psyop the FITC’s people’s choice award. It’s an amazing interactive animation that takes you, the viewer, on the journey of someone defecting from North Korea. As you proceed through the narrative there are interactive points that open extra footage and information elements to help you understand the life and process that a defector must go through.

This project was also co-created with Fathom Films, Jam 3 and directod by Ann Shin.

La Gaviotta by Limousine – Music Video / Animation by Fortiche

What really strikes me about this film / animation is the lighting.
Straight from the off; the way that the light from both artificial elements within the animation to the way they use ‘natural’ light in the animation is absolutely beautiful and is the most striking element of this whole thing.
Well, i say that but i guess that i have to admit to finding the girl in this pretty darn hot. I know she’s not real but the way they have animated her hair movements and the way when she’s in the chair she’s just swaying her knees back and forth and…c’mon, she is hot. Oh god.
The film was made by a french company called Fortiche and Directed by Jerome Combe. This company produces 3D animated stuff for everything from music vids to features and have some amazing work. Check out their site.

SpaceBound: An animation about an Astronaut and his dog on the verge of death

SpaceBound is a beautifully touching animation about the last moments of an astronauts life spent with his dog in space.

“When Death’s door is only a few breaths away, how would you choose to spend your last moments?”
“A stranded astronaut and his dog embark on one last adventure together through space. This is a story not about the end, but about the journey one takes to get there.”

What is Dead May Never Die

Great little motion graphic piece based on retro televisual iconic design elements those of us over the age of 30 may recognize…they’re also engaging which just goes to show that you don’t need loads of elements to make motion graphics work.

Motion Monday – I Met The Walrus

So…it’s 1969…a kid, Jerry Levitan, tricks his way into the hotel room of a one John Lennon and armed with a reel to reel tape recorder (what!!! those things are heavy) convinced him to answer a few questions to which, much to Johns credit, rather than get the boy chucked out he answered the boys questions.
40 years later, as producer, he got together with Designers Josh Raskin, James Braithwaite and Alex Kurina created this Animated Documentary besed around the answers to the young boys questions.
The animation was made in 2008 and still works brilliantly well mainly down to the wonderful and poignant words of Mr Lennon but also by the great animated sequences.

This is great animation and motion graphics doing what the are supposed to do.

Enjoy.
