A Very Nice Weekend Pad – SAOTA & Three 14 Architects

So…nice place…toilet could be a little cleaner though right?!!!

And let’s face it, its a little cramped. That’s not to say i don’t like it…it’s really nice…i love the staircase and stuff it’s just a little small for me that’s all and a little hard to get to…where’d you say it was again…SOUTH AFRICA!!!! whats the point of that!!! Hardly a weekend pad is it…you’d spend most of the weekend flying to and back to the bloody place…cost a fortune in airfares!!!

Nice Pad designed by SAOTA & Three 14 Architects.

Sunset Vale House by Wow Architects

Wow indeeed!!!

WOW Architects are based in Singapore.
I know, i know, it’s a bit of a dump!!! But i do like the bathroom!!! Oh! and the tree…other than that, yeh your right, it’s a bit of a dump…i wouldn’t live here that’s for sure…so cramped, and if truth be told a little on the dark side…jeez!!

Port Ludlow by Fiine Architects – The Modernist Home and Office

My God, what do i have to do to be able to afford a place like this. Who lives in these house…anyone know? Anyone actually own one? If so what do you do for a living? Hang on, i bet the only people who live in these places are Architects!!! That would figure?

Anyway, nice isn’t it!!!

Fiine Architects are a firm based in Seattle in the good ol U.S of A!!!

This residence lies in Washington State. The description by Fiine is thus:

“The Port Ludlow Residence is a compact, 2400 SF modern house located on a wooded waterfront property at the north end of the Hood Canal, a long, fjord-like arm of western Puget Sound. The house creates a simple glazed living space that opens up to become a front porch to the beautiful Hood Canal.”

This sounds shit!!! Who wants this at all…are these people stupid. What i want is a £2000 a month bedsit next to a sleazy alleyway in or around Harrods in London that has the Kitchen, Living space and bedroom all in one room…the toilet is the one extra room as you walk in but you can’t sit down with the door closed cos their is no room for your knees, which is obviously fine cos it lets the air flow through the apartment…well it would if there was a window. Anyway, thats modern living…not some beautifully designed open-plan space perched on hill amongst trees and on the edge of a lake, with huge glass fronted windows so you can look at the shitty view across the lake on a misty morning…ugh!!! Bastards!!!

More:

“The east-facing house is sited along a high bank, with a wonderful view of the water. The main living volume is completely glazed, with 12-ft. high glass walls facing the view and large, 8-ft.x8-ft. sliding glass doors that open to a slightly raised wood deck, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor space. During the warm summer months, the living area feels like a large, open porch. Anchoring the north end of the living space is a two-story building volume containing several bedrooms and separate his/her office spaces.”

East-facing!!! East is shit i want…erm…West facing, cockmuncher!!! ”During the Summer months….ladidadida (said in a childish condescending girly voice)…feels like a large open porch.” Yeh and i bet you’ve got people running around killing Mosquitos, one for each. Is that included in the price? Should be…ugh!!!

More:

“The interior finishes are simple and elegant, with IPE wood flooring, zebrawood cabinet doors with mahogany end panels, quartz and limestone countertops, and Douglas Fir trim and doors. Exterior materials are completely maintenance-free: metal siding and aluminum windows and doors. The metal siding has an alternating pattern using two different siding profiles.”

Oh my god shut up already…what if i don’t want my doors to slide…what if simple and elegant doesn’t cut it…what if i want complicated and grungey…what will that look like eh???

And what is Zebra Wood exactly…stripey wood? black and white striped wood? wood thats been covered with the skin of zebras…it sounds shit whatever it is…you people have no idea about class you really don’t.

More:

“The house has a number of sustainable or “green” building features, including 2×8 construction (40% greater insulation value); generous glass areas to provide natural lighting and ventilation; large overhangs for sun and rain protection; metal siding (recycled steel) for maximum durability, and a heat pump mechanical system for maximum energy efficiency. Sustainable interior finish materials include wood cabinets, linoleum floors, low-VOC paints, and natural wool carpet.”

Of course it does…and a magic box that turns shit into apples!!!

I don’t think i need to tell you how much i love this property…this is a beautiful designed home fully illustrating modernist architectural design at its best.

One day maybe.

Fiine Architects are also designers of bespoke furniture and lighting…sure they are :-)

Proto Homes – The Modernist Home & Office

Ah…just look. Just look at it.
Proto-Homes is the vision of Developer Frank Vafaee and agents Lorin Ruttenberg and Monica Garcia-Grilli (Listing agents).

I just love everything about this design and concept for a modern home. Clean lines, space, neutral colour scheme mixed with reds, browns and , i guess any other colour you want. It seems that these guys will work with you from the ground up on the design and layout of your Proto-Home and whats more you get everything in the one price!!!! Ok, look its not cheap and you have to have a plot of land first which i’m sure costs a hell of a lot but you can dream can’t you!!! For a mere $525,000 for 2,500 sq.ft (that’s around £340,000 in english money) thats pretty amazing…is it? i dunno, i’ve never bought a house in my life and i’m not sure i ever will (not in Ripoff Britain anyway!) so i really don’t know but lets not ruin the fantasy…its beautiful thing. Oh and they’re only available in L.A so thats a bit of a bummer…cos i don’t want to live there either really…still…i want one.

The Modernist Home – Domek v Busi – Cajthamlova Marketa Architect

I don’t know anything about the architect…his or her name might be Cajthamlova Marketa Architect, obviously not the “Architect” bit, and they hail from the Czech Republic…other than that…i know nothing. Not helpful i know. But lets talk a little about the home we see here to make up for it.
I don’t know why they have named it Domek v Busi. A few of their buildings have a similar naming style with the “v”. Maybe its the result of two Architects who had a fight and this house happened?!?!?!? Maybe its their, like, superpower…oh stop, i don’t know its probably a collaboration or something.
Anyway, i like the look of this place, its got a kind of slight industrial/scandinavian/modernist look about it, i mean it looks kinda homely and office like at the same time, which i don’t mind truth be told. I do love the whole openess of it, i wonder if the glass in the windows tints at night…anyway, it definitely hits the minimalist, modernist ideal…definitely functional…maybe a little male at the moment…but what a bachelor pad this would make uh!!!

Vale Do Lobo House by Arqui+ – Modernism in Architecture

Arqui+ is an Architecturial firm based in the Algarve led by Architect Vasco Vieira. This is one of my many dream houses…you have to love those clean lines and Modernist aesthetic. I have no idea how much a ‘house’ like this would cost but it’s not going to be cheap thats for sure…i would never go out if i lived here…imagine…space for an art studio, library, cinema room, tinted windows…beautiful.
