New Work – Ambition Project by StudioDen75
Hey guys.
So, who inspires you and why? This project started of being something based on the premise that a thought or an idea stems from these three things, meditation, inspiration and ambition.
The idea was to illustrate these three levels of an idea…however, i completed a design/illustration for meditation, which i wasn’t too happy with to be honest; and perhaps this was the process in action and maybe i jumped into it too quickly because as i went on i found the ‘inspiration’ element of actually finalizing an idea that worked overall really difficult so i stopped.
So this was a good month ago now and the Olympics started and this got me thinking about the project i’d set myself and it began to occur to me that there were great people who summed up, generally, the three elements that i wanted to conceive in a design or designs…then it occurred to me that actually only one of the words summed up everything to do with the other two, and that word was AMBITION.
It seem to me that success or an idea only comes through ambitious desire, the desire to want to do ‘something’. The desire to push forward with an idea, the desire to sit and meditate on a thought to allow it to progress into an idea or action…without the ambition to ‘do’ then no end result can happen.
Anyway, so above is the first three illustrations/designs that take someone that i respect for their ambition, people who have had the willpower to take an idea or a dream and acted upon it.
These were created with some paint, some pencil and digital painting photoshop.
There will be more to come, i’m not totally sure how many, but i have a few more that i would like to do.
I would love to hear your comments and any constructive criticism you may have.
Cheers guys.
Berto Martinez – Illustrations
I don’t know much at all about Berto Martinez other than he is from Barcelona and he is one amazing artist. I have stated on here a few times now (and probably will many times again) how much i love the work of Illlustrators like Robert McGinnis and Berto is in that calibre. I also love the way he has coloured his illustrations and how he keeps his little watermark mistakes which add to the overall look. Brilliant and Beautiful stuff man!!!!
Inspiration – Digital Portrait Magazine Cover Art – Cesar Moreno
This is the ‘How it was made video” for a project for Clase Premiere Magazine by Cesar Moreno. His work is fantastic…i love his rough painting style. His Digital Painting style kind of crosses from fine art to almost a cartoon style and his use of limited palettes is extremely cool. Cesar is an Illustrator and Graphic Designer hailing from Mexico and you should really check out the rest of his work as it is pure class. Below is the final artwork.
My Work – Digital Painting – Goldie Hawn Update

Ok, so here is an updated version of my Goldie Hawn Digital Painting portrait. As you can see there are still a few bits i haven’t finished, like the hands…still need a little work, but overall i’m quite proud of it so far. I’m really liking the face and hair, i think i’ve pulled those elements off quite well.
The difficult elements are really the hands and clothing…cloth is hell to paint and get right.Digital Painting is also a real time eater…i would love to get to the point where i can knock a portrait out in a day or even a few hours but right now it takes a hell of a lot of time…time to step back from it and take a break and to come back to it later with fresh eyes etc…anyway, i’m determined to get this digital painting stuff nailed…i’m working on something that is more towards the style i want to achieve, which is more along the lines of 50′s – 70′s film posters and magazine art so i’ll hopefully have something up soon…meanwhile i hope you like the evolution of Goldie Hawn.
